How we got started:

Since 2008 we have specialized in Automatic Chicken Coop Doors to safely let poultry out of the coop and safely lock them up at night. Automatic chicken coop doors do more than just let poultry out of the coop. Statistics show urban dwelling chickens get let out less than 2 times per week. This causes aggressive behavior and the poultry will hurt one another and even begin eating their own eggs. For a healthy and happy coop add an Automatic Chicken Coop Door to your coop. Our company has been in business since 2008 located in Valparaiso, Indiana USA. We started our company as a fundraising effort to support clean water drinking wells and removing children off the streets primarily in India. To date we now have built and operate an orphanage and have also dug several dozen clean water drinking wells for those that could not have done for themselves. All of this is possible because someone like you purchased a product from AutomaticChickenCoopDoor.com

In late 2008 Jim Smith began seeking out ways to create his own Electric Automatic Chicken Coop Door. On top of running his own business, it was difficult for him to remember to let the chickens out every morning and then lock them up at night before something got in the coop and ate them. At this time you could not purchase an Automatic Chicken Coop Door online but there were several how to’s and instructional videos for means of creating your own automatic door. By late 2008 he had created the first of many prototypes for operating our chicken coop door. After several prototypes he created the design we use on site and is still being used in his own coop today.  “Our first Automatic Chicken Coop Door prototype still operates our coop today.” By early 2009 Jim and his son Jeremy began selling the doors on their own website AutomaticChickenCoopDoor.com.  They sell their products in feed supply stores and to coop manufacturers around the world.

Automatic Chicken Coop Door: About Us

Jim Smith founded Automatic Chicken Coop Door in early 2009. He’s the President of PreachIt Ministries and runs several successful businesses for ministers, churches, and runs several charity fundraisers around the world. In his down time, his hobby is chicken keeping. As a child he grew up on a farm and today his way of relaxing is taking care of his chickens, goats, swans, rabbits, pheasants, ducks, and dogs. He’s written several chicken keeping articles that can be found in our newsletter at the bottom of the page.

Jeremy Smith has taken over operations of Automatic Chicken Coop Door for his father Jim Smith. Jeremy is dedicated to chicken safety and has spent the last 15 years researching new an inventive ways to protect chickens. “We’ve had no less than 50 chickens at a time and it’s not uncommon to have a chicken to go missing. If not properly addressed in a timely manner, another chicken could be gone within a few days. It takes 6 months for our chickens to begin laying their first egg from when they are hatched. It can be costly and time-consuming raising chickens just to feed the local predators in your area. An Automatic Chicken Coop Door is the first line of defense against predators and will protect your chickens form about 90% of the predators that attempt to eat your chickens.”

Company Mission/Donations:

Many people do not know this but Automatic Chicken Coop Door is a fundraising arm for OpportunityHope.org. This is a humanitarian website that helps those less fortunate than us with 100% of their proceeds. Automatic Chicken Coop Door’s profits are used to fund many of the mission works that Opportunity Hope does on a monthly basis. To date, AutomaticChickenCoopDoor.com donated and raised funds for hundreds of thousands dollars to help build an orphanage and drill clean water wells in West Bengal India. Automatic Chicken Coop Door personally went on their our own expense to India to ensure that every dollar (100%) of the money was spent to drill wells in the villages that needed it most. "We were saddened to find so many people suffering from such a simple need of clean drinking water. We drilled 11 drinking wells in villages and now the children there have a well reaching 350 ft deep to provide the cleanest water possible, which is unheard of in this part of the world." Automatic Chicken Coop Door also dug an irrigation well for this area because the land surrounding the orphanage was a sandy soil and crops could only be grown for no more than a few months out of the year and farmers were forced to leave their families to find work so they could feed them. Digging the irrigation well allowed the farmers to return to their homes and families. This was all possible because someone like you bought a product from AutomaticChickenCoopDoor.com
